Meet Gile Beaudoin
Healthy & Prosperous Retirement
I was born in Victoria, British Columbia, but moved to Ottawa, Ontario at the age of 2 ½. (Tuna half!) My earliest recollection is of that trip to Ottawa, when I lost a little pair of brand new yellow socks, when I held them out of the car window to hear them flapping in the wind.
With a car full of 4 kids, under 9 yrs. old, my Dad was not willing to turn around and search for them, but my Mom was able to console me by telling me that some other little girl would find them and be so happy.
The fact that this actually consoled a two year old, is an insight into what seems “right” in Gile’s world!
We moved often, because my Dad was in the RCMP, (our Canadian, National Police Force). So when I was 9 years old, we moved to the Maritimes, living in Truro and Halifax, in Nova Scotia and Fredericton, in New Brunswick, before we moved back to Ottawa when I was 16. Starting over so often made me both resilient and timid – seemingly contradictory, I know,
but it has helped me to know the victory of overcoming my fears and the pain of feeling “out of my comfort zone”, more often than I would have liked.
Growing up in an active, health conscious family, there were a lot of things I took for granted…like eating healthy meals. We didn’t have junk food in our home and our snack of choice was hand popped popcorn. My Mom cooked home-made meals (including desserts) and didn’t rely on pre-packaged foods. Whenever we traveled, we couldn’t afford restaurants, so, once again, meals were handmade and healthy.
Over the years, I have nurtured my interest in: staying fit, caring for my skin, hair and nails, relaxation techniques for mind and body and generally just taking care of and being appreciative of the gift of health that I was given.
I never did make it to University, although that is what I had been groomed for all through my school years. As far back as I can remember I wanted to be a Mom and homemaker. Guess my Mom inspired me, because she did it so well. I met my husband right out of high school and we got married and started our family in our early 20s. He continued the family business of General Contracting in Construction, allowing me to live my dream of staying home and raising our family of 3 wonderful children.
In the mid-1990s, the economy took a downturn and my husband had to liquidate our savings, to avoid bankruptcy, so we were basically starting over, at the age of 40. I planned on returning to school, to get a qualification, so that I could have a career outside the home and help him in his efforts to support our family.
Right about that time and luckily for me, a relative introduced me to The Wellness Company and since the products aligned with my values, I decided to switch stores and shop via catalogue for everyday consumables that I had been buying at a variety of stores previously.
I liked the convenience of the one-stop shopping method, for better quality products at reasonable prices, but I never dreamed that it would become the answer to our money concerns, as well. Because I enjoyed the products so much, I introduced the shopping system to some friends. I liked the fact that I didn’t have to sell them products and charge a retail mark-up! Just by referring them to the company, to do their own shopping, (at the same prices that I was paying), I was rewarded with “residuals” on their purchases.
No one was more surprised than me when this became the “lifeline” we had been looking for. The products have made our lives simpler, in so many ways and the added benefit of having a business side that makes total sense, has allowed us to get out of debt, move to our lake home full time, travel several times each year (without worrying about the business back home) and help countless other families to find some “ease” in their monthly budget – from a few hundred dollars per month to thousands of dollars per month.
It fit, once again, with my values of helping people and making others happy, (remember the yellow socks?).
